HOW TO BUY A PAPER COPY OF DEBBIES BOOKThe paper version of the 22nd Edition of DEBBIES BOOK is 280 pages long, includes over 9000 listings and over 400 informative display ads, and has a handy table of contents and a client index, and some maps of the Los Angeles area. It measures 9" wide by 11" tall, and is 3-hole punched to easily fit in a script binder. It is displayed in counter stands at many of the major prop houses in Los Angeles. HOW TO USE DEBBIES BOOK ONLINE!
From the "home page" click on Browse DEBBIES BOOK Online. This will allow you to search through the book alphabetically by categories. This browsing function is designed to allow you to do everything by only clicking your mouse. The letters of the alphabet are displayed across the top of this page. Click on the letter that corresponds to the item or topic you are looking for. Suppose that you are looking for "Draperies"; so click on the letter "D". A list of all categories beginning with "D" is displayed in alphabetical order in the upper left of the screen. Grab the bar to the immediate right of this list, and scroll down until you see "Draperies". Click on "Draperies", and after a few seconds you will see in the lower section of the screen a list of those Prop Houses, specialty stores or individuals who will fabricate draperies or who have draperies for rent or sale. You can scroll through these listings to find a resource to contact. Since "Draperies" also has other categories that are related to it, you will see a list of other related items in the upper right section of the screen like: "Flameproofing" "Hampers, Theatrical" "Stanchions & Rope" "Theatrical Draperies, Hardware & Rigging" "Window Treatments" (Note: if your browser does not automatically display these related categories in the upper right section of the screen, click on the text "see also" after the category name "Draperies") You can click on any item in this list (like "Window Treatments") and go directly to that category. Those category listings will then appear in the lower section of the screen. As another example, suppose you had been looking for items you would find at an "Amusement Park". You click on "A" and scroll through the list of categories beginning with "A" to find "Amusement Park". You will note that it says "see" to the right of it, NOT "see also". (Also, on some browsers like Netscape, "Amusement Park" is in italic font.) "See" means that this category does NOT have any listings in it. The name "Amusement Park" is there only to help you navigate through the index and find the other categories in which there actually are listings. Click on "Amusement Park" (or on the text "see"after it) and you will see a list of related topics appear in the upper right of the screen, such as: "Animal Costumes & Walk Around Characters" "Arcade Equipment, Games & Rides" "Carnival Dressing/Supplies" "Flags/Banners" "Kiosks" "Ticket Booths" You can click on any of these items to go directly to the exact item you're looking for, and again, the listings will appear in the lower section of the screen. Some older browsers may require you to click on the text "see also" or "see" just to the right of the main topic item to get this list or related items to appear. |
In the listings at the bottom of the screen, you will find the company's name, address, phone and/or fax numbers. If these companies have Email addresses or web sites, or additional information (signified by the hyperlink "MORE DETAIL"), you will see this after the company listing. You can click on these hyperlinks to send Email or visit their web sites. If you click on "MORE DETAIL", you will see photos or additional information about their products or services in this category. That's all there is to it! BEHAVIOR WITH DIFFERENT BROWSERS DEBBIES BOOK Online has been optimized for Netscape Navigator V4.7 or above or Internet Explorer versions 5.0 and above. It works on recent versions of the AOL browser as described above. However, if you are using other browsers, or older versions of Netscape or Explorer, you may experience different behavior from that described above. Every effort has been made to give users of the most common browsers at least SOME sort of useful ability to search DEBBIES BOOK, but if you find you cannot use it with your current browser, please contact us. We can usually mail your book the same day or the next day. If you live outside of the U.S.A. or Canada, we can only handle shipment by Fedex. You must pay for the book and all Fedex shipping charges in advance, before we will ship you the book. In the special case of Canada, we can ship via U.S. Mail, but it is problematic, and we prefer to use Fedex to ease the problems of handling forms for declaring duty and passing through customs.
